Supplied throughout Australasia and expanding globaly RHINO GRATING is made to international standards and the factory is accredited to ISO 9001:2000. Rhino Grating is focused on manufacturing high quality products to meet and exceed international standards.

The following are some of the main AS/NZ standards which are adhered to:

Galvanising Standard

The Australian Standard AS/NZS 4680:2006 – Hot dip galvanized (zinc) coatings on fabricated ferrous articles is the defining standard for hot dip galvanized coating specifications in Australia. It is closely aligned with the International Standard
ISO 1461:199. The standard sets minimum coating and average coating thickness levels.

Platform Standards

Rhino grating can manufacture grating in conformance with AS 1657 – Fixed Platforms, Walkways, Stairway and Ladders. Our standard grating with 30mm or 40mm pitch between the bearing bars meets the standards criteria. 30mm pitched grating is best suited
to situations which require a heavier duty grate with more slip resistance than the 40mm pitched grating.

Steel Standards

Rhino Grating’s Load Bearing Bars are manufactured to comply with the steel standards: AS 1594–H250 and AS 3679–250. Combining our high quality steel with the correct grating choice for the application ensures the best success in your project.

It is important to use the correct grating type on your project.The correct grating type is dependant on the required bearing weight, the span and the type of traffic.Referring to the diagram above, we can vary the height, thickness and pitch of the bearing bars to acheive the necessary strength.

As shown below we have created a simplified table below to work as a guide in your product selection . More information on loading calculation can be found in our catalog (Rhino_Grating_Catalog_2007_3mb.pdf) on pages 11 and 12.

What is Hot Dip Galvanising?

Hot Dip Galvanising is the best surface protection for mild steel products. Galvanising prevents erosion by protecting steel products from the elements.

How is Galvanising Quality Controlled?

Rhino Grating complies with worldwide galvanizing standards. The standard in Australia/ New Zealand is AS/NZS 4680 – Hot Dip Galvanized (zinc) coatings on fabricated ferrous articles. Conforming to the AS/NZ standard at a minimum ensures that our galvanizing quality and coating thickness effectively protects all Rhino Steel products.

What Rhino Grating products are available as Galvanised?

Our complete range of mild steel products are available as Hot Dipped Galvanised. Our FRP and Stainless Steel products have their own anti-corrosive properties and cannot be Galvanised.
